Membership: The Nominating and Ballot Committee is appointed by the LFSA Executive Committee and is composed of three members, with at least one member from LSA and one member from LFA.
Terms of Office: Committee members serve two-year overlapping terms.
Standing Charges:
The Nominating and Balloting Committee:
Issues the call for nominations, recruits candidates for elections, and contacts nominees to verify their willingness to serve
Provides a slate of candidates for the officers (Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and Secretary) of LFA and LSA and for standing committees with elected membership, in sufficient time for elections to take place no later than May 15
Assembles all ballots, tabulates, and reports the results to the respective LFA and LSA Executive Committees within one week
Standing Charges Progress/Accomplishment Summary:
Note: As of November 2025, there were 87 voting members of LSA and 46 voting members of LFA. Numbers varied slightly throughout the year. All ballots were distributed via Qualtrics.
Special Election for LSA vice-chair/chair elect
- Position: the LSA vice-chair/chair elect position became available due to departure of previous vice-chair (Jack Hawthorn)
- Voting period: August 28-September 3
- Results: Sydney McFadden elected
LFSA Salary and Benefits Committee Ballot
- Charge: remove the Salary and Benefits Committee from under LFSA, as the United Academics of KU union will be assuming these responsibilities for faculty going forward.
- Voting period: January 14-February 6
- Results: 89 responses, 80 yes, 9 no; measure passed.
LFSA Ballot on new Standing Charge for Nominating & Balloting
- Charge: add the following to Standing Charges for the Libraries’ Nominating and Balloting Committee: “Maintains a record of faculty service for five years to assist with recruiting faculty candidates for LFA and LFSA governance committees.”
- Voting period: February 16-March 9
- Results: 79 responses, 69 yes, 10 no; charge approved.
LFA Ballot on new Standing Charge for LCPT
- Charge: add the following to the standing charges for the Libraries’ Committee on Promotion and Tenure: “When requested by the Dean of Libraries, review new-hire faculty files to determine if awarding tenure and/or elevated rank is appropriate.”
- Voting period: February 16-February 20
- Results: 29 responses, 28 yes and 1 no
Faculty voted to approve this charge, but the dean later asked for rewording, and a revision was proposed at the LFA Spring Assembly (May 7). The revised charge was added to the LFA General Election Ballot in late May 2026.

- Voting period: May 19-May 26
- Ballot return rate: LSA 40 completed
- Results: New LSA officers were elected for their respective terms as indicated below.

- Results: 41 responses, 41 yes (100%)
LFA Ballot on changes to Guidelines for Academic Appointments
