Committee Name:  Nominating & Ballot Committee

Membership. The Nominating and Ballot Committee is appointed by the LFSA Executive Committee and is composed of three members, with at least one member from LSA and one member from LFA.

Terms of Office. Committee members serve two-year overlapping terms.

The Nominating and Ballot Committee:

  • Issues the call for nominations, recruits candidates for elections, and contacts nominees to verify their willingness to serve

  • Provides a slate of candidates for the officers (Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and Secretary) of LFA and LSA and for standing committees with elected membership, in sufficient time for elections to take place no later than May 15

  • Assembles all ballots, tabulates, and reports the results to the respective LFA and LSA Executive Committees within one week

Special Election for LSA Member At-Large Position


 

  • Position:
    • The LSA member at-large position (previously held by Tiffany McIntosh) became available
  • Process:
    • N&B issued call for self-nominations
    • Chris Bohling (Music Library Operations Manager) volunteered for the position
  • Voting Period:
    • November 1-8
  • Results:
    • Of the 88 staff members who received the link to the Qualtrics ballot, 39 participated in the vote, resulting in a 45% voter turnout. The ballot passed with exactly 45% of the vote.

March 2025

  • Charge: The LFA Executive Committee tasked the Nominating & Ballot Committee a charge to update the KU Libraries record of LFA faculty servicehistory. Loren updated the LFA faculty service history on our behalf in response to the special charge
  • Request to Faculty: The N&B committee asked faculty members to review their entries, and confirm whether the information was accurate.
  • Deadline: Wednesday, March 12, 2025, by the end of the day.
  • Results:  Faculty members individually reviewed and confirmed the accuracy of their records.

Late April / Ealy June 2025

  1. LSA General Election Ballot 2025. This ballot was distributed via Qualtrics between May 20 to May 30. New LSA officers were elected for their respective terms as indicated below.

Ballot return rate: LSA 57 completed (67%) of 85 sent out

  • Library Staff Assembly Executive Committee - Joining Rebecca Schroeder as chair:
    • Jack Hawthorn (LSA vice chair/chair-elect)
    • Melissa Mayhew (secretary)
    • Graze Brazell, MC Mack, Andy Poland (members at large)

 

  1. LFA General Election Ballot 2025. This ballot was distributed via Qualtrics and took place May 20 to June 2. New LFA officers were elected for their respective terms as indicated below.

Ballot return rate: LFA 36 completed (83%) of 43 sent out
