Standing Charges:

The Nominating and Ballot Committee:

  • Issues the call for nominations, recruits candidates for elections, and contacts nominees to verify their willingness to serve
  • Provides a slate of candidates for the officers (Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and Secretary) of LFA and LSA and for standing committees with elected membership, in sufficient time for elections to take place no later than May 15
  • Assembles all ballots, tabulates, and reports the results to the respective LFA and LSA Executive Committees within one week

 

Standing Charges Progress/Accomplishment Summary:

Late December / Early January. Special election to fill Marcella Huggard’s open Sabbatical Leave and Post-Tenure Review Committee position. Geoff Husic will take over Marcella’s vacated seat on the Committee.

 

May 2024. LSA General Election Ballot 2024. This ballot was distributed via Qualtrics and took place May 1 to May 15. New LSA officers were elected for their respective terms as indicated below.  We had 60 responses with 70% of staff participating. The ballot passed with 97% of the vote:  Yes-58 (97%) / No-2(3%)

May 2024. LFA General Election Ballot 2024. This ballot was distributed via Qualtrics and took place May 1 to May 15. New LFA officers were elected for their respective terms as indicated below. Ballot return rate: Yes-58(97%) / No-2(3%)

Libraries Committee on Promotion and Tenure (3-year term): Michael Peper, Whitney Baker and Michiko Ito

 

Early June: LSA General Assembly required one more ballot (“Proposed Change to the Libraries Code of Governance, June 2025”), sent only to library staff. This is because a change to the Code of Governance must be approved through an actual ballot, not just by voting at a meeting.  The change to the Code passed with 70 % of all members voting:  Yes-58(97%) / No-2(3%)
