Committee approved minutes from 26-April-2022 meeting, with no changes, by unanimous consent 

Debriefing on Sharon Riley’s workshop on 29-April-2022

  •  Great job, Sharon and Marianne!
  • Thirty participants; twenty lunches; some staff hung around Watson 3West to talk 
  • Workshop was well received
  • Seems like spreading staff development sessions out over time is a good way to go in the future 

Update: May meeting with the Dean

  • Staff annual evaluation ratings

  • The Dean is open to looking at staff annual evaluation rating trends across the Libraries 

  •  This would be an informational survey for the Dean himself; LSA is not requesting access to this information

Governance representation on OMF

  • The Dean is exploring governance representation on the Dean’s Cabinet 
    • Pending further discussion with current Dean’s cabinet

Other updates 

  • Dean reiterated that the Libraries will hold a Day of Reflection on Monday, June 20th in conjunction with Juneteenth  
  • LSA proposed the idea of a staff service award to the Dean as part of the fall awards ceremony

LSA elections

  • Completed and a results announcement is forthcoming 

Update: May LFSA meeting

  • Discussion on whether the new staff evaluation schedule might be problematic for some who work around the fiscal year 
  • Annual committee reports will be due in June
  • Discussion around the need for additional guidelines for, and standardization of, hiring searches conducted by the Libraries 
    • There are currently no clear guidelines for candidate visits, or possibility of compensation for out-of-pocket expenses for people assisting with recruiting measures during post-interview occasions. 

Staff development session ideas 

  • Upcoming REI Groundwater session – a session around that workshop to re-enforce any learnings
