• Chris Banuelos – member-at-large
• Chris Bohling – Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect
Opening
Meeting commenced at 10am
Action Items:
Paul will check the Libraries’ calendars for the optimal date for the LSA fall general assembly meeting
Topics:
Salary increases:
• Increase set at a maximum of 2.5%
• Benchmarks for salary increases TBD
• Increase required to be merit-based by KBOR
o Merit will be based on last three evaluation years
• Equity increases (in addition to merit) will be given on a tiered system for salaries between $30,000 and $40,000:
o $30,000 to $35,00 will receive a $1,000 increase
o $35,000 to $37,000 will receive a $750 increase
o $37,000 to $39,999 will receive a $500 increase
• Salary increases will take effect mid-October and will be reflected on the November 15th paycheck
Tuition assistance:
• Changes to KU policy: tuition for taking a course at a 3rd party institution will be covered at the end of the course
o This change increases the difficulty to coordinate payments with the 3rd party institution.
o Primary issue is that some people do not have the necessary funds at the beginning of the course.
• Dean is interested in starting a tuition-loan program. Person would pay the Libraries at the end of the course (or possibly payroll deductions).
• Details still under discussion
Updating LSA websites:
• Committee documents will be placed on SharePoint.
• Creating separate web sites on SharePoint for LFA, LSA and LFSA committees (instead of one large document library) is under consideration.
Potential dates for LSA fall general assembly meeting:
• LSA fall assembly meeting date to be determined; current proposed date is Thursday, October 31st, 2019
