Library Staff Assembly (LSA) Executive Committee Meeting Minutes:

Caton, Christen sent an email during the meeting with reason for not attending to Emily and Sunita and requested to forward to other members. Sunita replied and cc’d to other members
Agenda:
-Approve minutes
-Updates from LFSA, committees, etc.
-Wrap up on SDD
-Upcoming elections and annual report
-Progress on tuition assistance letter
Minutes Approval:
-Minutes from 03.06.19 were approved by all the members
Updates from LFSA and upcoming elections:
-Emily provided the update from LFSA meeting
Carmen Orth-Alfie and her team from Salary & Benefits committee are working on pay discrimination data and soon will send out a survey of about 10-15 minutes to the library staff and faculty. It all started with question and concern regarding staff but now are working for both staff and faculty. There is a slot for comments also. The team has added the definitions for the similar terms so that everyone should be on the same page in understanding these terms
Lars and the LFSA group discussed forthcoming required governance elections
Chris will send an email to KU lib with a request/option to volunteer for officer positions with supervisor consent
The staff who are interested in volunteering but not getting permission from the supervisor can report to the Dean Smith directly as he is very supportive of the staff and faculty participating/volunteering if they want
Wrap up on SDD (Staff Development Day):
-Emily will send a compilation of the comments from SDD survey. She talked about these comments in detail in the meeting and the LSA group had a discussion. Some comments are positive and some are negative
Progress on Tuition Assistance Program letter:
-Emily started writing the letter and read it in the meeting, a lot of discussions happened and suggestions were provided. Emily will add all the suggestions provided by the members in the meeting to the Tuition Assistance Program Letter
