- $1500 dedicated talent development funding per staff member
- Additional funding opportunities available, like Library Research Fund

- Share out sessions: next is December 11, 2024, in 455, continuing every other month
- Spring retreat: LSA would like to reinvigorate the spring retreat that dissolved during the height of the COVID pandemic to a half-day talent development retreat
- Haskell Library tour/visit
- 2025 Summer Bus Tour – Linda Hall and UMKC are currently being considered, though other locations and suggestions are welcome
- Formation of Talent Development Committee
- Committee to oversee the activities mentioned above
- Charges
- Promote internal and external Talent Development opportunities
- Help identify and promote internal and external funding opportunities
- Maintain LSA talent development website
- Marianne Reed moved to send this to ballot, Shannon Royer seconded the motion
- Motion passed with majority vote, will be sent to ballot

- Thank you to Brian Moss, Rebecca Schroeder, and Marianne Reed for being fantastic leaders
- FLSA (Fair Labor Standard Acts) salary threshold
- US Dept of Labor issued salary increase for managers that are exempt from overtime
- HR meeting with administration and leadership to determine what this means, how to implement this by January 1 deadline
- Provost Bichelmeyer has said we are not to expect institutional level funding for these salary increases, though Dean Smith is advocating for and supporting the idea of institutional funding to avoid “self-cannibalizing” our budget(s)
- Total cost to raise applicable salaries to threshold is ~$35k
- Talent development
- Thank you to LSA, Sharon Riley, Mike Broadwell, Courtney Foat, and all who have been building this together
- Organic groundswell, all came together beautifully
- Creative, incentivizing feedback and evaluations
- What we are building is unique, could be a pilot for the rest of KU
- Mike Broadwell and Dean Smith to meet with central HR to share our talent development work and efforts
- Two units have asked KUL to come present about our talent development program
