University Governance

The Governance system at the University of Kansas has been described as a "shared" system of governance. Each of the Senates, Faculty, Staff and Students have a direct line of communication with the Provost and Chancellor.

KU Libraries Governance Structure

 

a. Dean of Libraries

The KU Libraries Faculty and Staff Assembly acts as an advisory body to the Dean of Libraries, subject to the policies of the Board of Regents, the University Senate, and the Dean of Libraries.

b. Library Faculty Assembly (LFA)

The Library Faculty Assembly (LFA) consists of all KU Libraries Tenure and Tenure-Track Faculty and Academic Staff. The LFA is supported by the following committees and positions:

-LFA Executive Committee

-Library Committee on Promotion and Tenure

-Sabbatical Leave & Post-Tenure Review Committee

-Ad Hoc Committees

-Liaison to LSA

-Liaison to Organizational Development Unit

c. Library Staff Assembly (LSA)

The Library Staff Assembly (LSA) consists of all KU Libraries Unclassified Professional Staff and University Support Staff. The LsA is supported by the following committees and positions:

-LSA Executive Committee

-Ad Hoc Committees

-Liaison with LFA

-Liaison with the Organizational Development Unit

d. Library Faculty and Staff Assembly (LFSA)

The Library Faculty and Staff Assembly (LFSA) consists of all KU Libraries Faculty and Staff (i.e. all members of LFA and LSA).

-LFSA Executive Committee (comprised of the officers of LFA and LSA Executive Committees)

-Nominating and Ballot Committee

-Committee on the Code and Bylaws

-Committee on Research and Scholarly Activities

-Committee on Salaries and Benefits

-Planning and Resources Committee (currently on hiatus)
