  • Library committee reports 

  • CRSA, Phil Cunningham: Hosted information session on grants in November. Hosting GRF panel Dec. 6 with Brian Rosenblum. More programming planned for the spring. 

  • Committee on the Code, Victoria Williams: Working on document with language about recusal of supervisors of faculty candidates for promotion and tenure.  

  • Nominating & Ballot, Rebecca Schroeder: Made amendments to code and bylaws. Not much planned until the spring.  

  • University committee reports 

  • Senate Library Committee, Carol Smith: Planning to make resources directly available via faculty senate website. Focusing advocacy and effort on renovation of Watson, more robust collections budget, and spreading word about strategic plan and needed resources.  

  • University senate, Brian Moss: Provided overview of university governance structure. Voting on new absence policy. Recent actions include providing dependent tuition assistance; additional professional development funds for staff; discussing Juneteenth holiday; continuing paid winter recess  

  • Faculty research committee, Angie Rathmel: Currently reviewing how funds are distributed. 

  • Academic Computing Committee, Gwen Geiger-Wolfe: Meeting regularly with CIO Ed Hudson. Discussed AI and student cybersecurity policy considerations.   

  • Remarks from Dean Carol Smith 

  • Dean Smith discussed her values on governance and provided anecdotes of events that shape her leadership philosophy, speaking from faculty librarian perspective; supporting library faculty structure helps everyone.
