Report from the Ad Hoc committee on Governance website and SharePoint site
Sara Morris reported on ad-hoc committee on the website/Sharepoint
- Recommendation that LFA/LFSA presence on Sharepoint be removed, with the exception of LCPT (confidentiality).
- Committee will reach out to past secretaries to get missing minutes, documentation, etc.
- Committee wants to have a three year term (renewable) for a webmaster position to oversee the management of the website.
- Will need an LFSA meeting to approve, as it will need a change to the code.
- A final report will be produced, ideally before the LFSA Spring meeting
Other business
LFSA exec will meet again in March.
Report on meeting with Dean Smith (2/13/2020)
- They discussed an Analytic and Institutional Reporting (AIR) (formerly OAIP) report about equity. This is a confidential report that will not likely be shared.
- This does not include library faculty. Library faculty has never been included in this reporting by the University.
- They found no statistically significant difference between salary equity for faculty by gender.
- This is separate from the recent Provost funding that resulted in library salary increases by gender. The methodology of this distribution of funds is still unclear.
- Re: ongoing discussion of morale
- KU’s turnover is lower (on average) than other research institutions (based on self- reporting in an online discussion)
- General attrition and overall reduction of staff may contribute to lower morale (e.g. more work for everybody)
- Beginning FY21, professional development compensation for faculty will increase by $500. Additional funding will be made available for staff on request.
Results of LFA ballot to reduce LFA exec. membership from seven to six.
- 28 positive votes, none against - ballot passed
Anything to/from LFA Committee liaison reports
- CRSA has approved 13 LRF funding proposals.
Action items
- Need to schedule a date for the LFA General Spring meeting (Betsaida)
