December 3, 2019

  1. Approval of minutes of previous LFA Exec meeting (10/25/2019)

Opening

Meeting was called to order.

Discussion of morale issues

Lengthy discussion for the remainder of the meeting centering around employee (faculty and staff) morale within the KU Libraries, a topic which has been raised and discussed in a few venues recently, including the LFA General Meeting on November 4, 2019.

Specific discussions included various aspects that contribute to morale; the need for employees to have a safe (i.e., anonymous) option to voice concerns, issues, and ideas, as well as avenues for enabling action on those concerns; the role of administration, supervisors (including the OMF group), mentors, and the strategic plan (including action items) in library-wide morale issues; among others.

Meeting is adjourned.

Discussions on morale issues will continue.

We have run out of time, so minutes can be approved via email.

Other reports (i.e. committee reports, meeting with Dean) will be moved to next meeting.
