LFA Exec - Minutes - March 24, 2025

LFA Executive Committee Meeting 
March 24, 2025

Attending: Jon Giullian (Chair), Josh Bolick (Vice Chair), Kodjo Atiso (Secretary), Brian Rosenblum, and Adrienne Sanders.  

Absent: Angie Rathmel

  1. Approve minutes from the 02/24 /2025 meeting  
  2. Minutes were approved 
  3. LFA Spring Assembly 
  4. The spring meeting for the LFA/LFSA and LSA is scheduled for April 22nd. 
  5. The Chair and Vice are working on the draft agenda for the spring meeting, which will be available soon.
  6. New faculty members will be introduced
  7. 2024 Evaluation Form and Process update
    1. The Dean’s schedule does not allow her to meet with all library faculty members before the March 31st deadline.
    2. There were several inconsistencies in the evaluation process.
    3. The evaluation process and amended form will be discussed during the spring assembly meeting.
  8. Update from the LFA chairs' meeting with the Dean  
    1. There was a discussion about ILS selection 
    2. The service audit draft was discussed. 
    3. Hiring priorities for FY26 were discussed  
    4. The dean was given a run-down on faculty searches.
  9. Service Inventory updates  
  10. An updated survey inventory link has been shared with members
  11. Employees must list service items and hours spent at KU libraries in 2024.
  12. Employees must list service items to KU (excluding KU libraries) and the number of hours spent in 2024.
  13. Employees list service items to external organizations (NOT KU) and the total hours spent in 2024
  14. Committee reports 
  15. Ad hoc Committee for Review of P&T Guidelines 
  16. The committee met a couple of times and has identified 44 institutions to check and compare their promotion criteria. An update will be given at the spring general meeting assembly.
  17. LCPT - Nothing to report 
  18. SLPTR - Nothing to report
  19. Updates from the LSA Chair
    1. A dedicated fund has been set up to help with student appreciation work
    2. A bus trip to UMKC is being worked on
  20. New Business 
    1. LFA/LFSA/ LSA/ Elections
  21. LFA Exec secretary must communicate to the N&B Committee about elections for the LFA/LSA Exec elections to take place no later than May 15
  22. LCPT mentors must recuse themselves from faculty members they are supervising 

 Action items

  1. Jon to call for an emergency LFA Exec meeting on April 14th to prepare for the assembly meeting.
