Attendees: Karen Cook; Lynn Ward; Whitney Baker; Scott Cossel; Andi Back

Action Items:

  • Scott will email a reminder to KULIB-L to say people have to apply in advance for LRF funds and not assume that funds are readily available.
  • Scott will encourage people to apply for GRF funding early.

Elected Officers:

Chair: Scott Cossel Secretary: Whitney Baker

LRF application decision-making method

LRF allocation for this fiscal year is $6,000. Committee should approach the Dean and let Shannon Royer know if committee requires an increase in base funding ASAP. Otherwise, per usual, committee can request additional funding the spring if needed.

What method of decision-making should committee use?

  • Committee chose to review applications as they are submitted (first-come; first-served); consistent with previous years.

Competitive and weighted towards pre-tenured faculty?

  • No; see guidelines approved by the Dean.

How does the committee spread the funding out to cover the entire year?

  • Committee not concerned; will ask the Dean for additional funding as needed. Other?
  • Applicants can request funding early as they must state their travel plans before the FY begins.

Other Topics Discussed

What is CRSA’s role now? The main role for CRSA is to review and determine LRF funding. CRSA also encourages people to apply for GRF funding, as well as review GRF applications and

provide recommendations to the campus Research Office. There is overlap between OD and CRSA. OD tends to do much of the programming.

Committee adjourned at 11:00am.
