CRSA Minutes - September 6, 2024

CRSA Meeting Notes

September 6, 2024

1:30 PM, Spencer 327 / Zoom

In attendance: Phil Cunningham, Jaime Groetsema-Saifi, Amber Ovsak, Paul Thomas, Brian Moss (LFA staff rep)

Phil provided a recap of last year with an overview of the final report.

  • 7 LRF awards allocated last year
  • 1 GRF awarded last year

Our responsibility is to review the applications, but also to raise awareness regarding these funding sources.

We also reviewed the guidelines with LFSA and tried to open the funding to ensure it would be available to staff in addition to faculty

Another goal we had last year was to develop a flowchart to clarify the funding options for funding and which pool would be most appropriate for different projects. This was pushed to this year.

Officer Roles: Chair & Secretary

(Last year it was Jill/Phil as co-chairs & Amber Secretary) We decided to wait to decide officer roles until the next meeting when all members will hopefully be present.

Changes made in the guidelines (reviewed by Phil) - what is on the website is what has been updated. We will find out our funding figures in October. We want to articulate the importance of using these funds to continue to secure these funds for the future.

Discussion over meeting minutes being published on the website. Tabled until the next meeting.

Programming: Last year we had 4 events.

  1. LRF Information Session / Q & A
  2. GRF – Potential Projects and opportunities for collaboration
  3. Brian Rosenblum – Speak about his experiences with GRF
  4. Book Publishing panel with Milton, Paul, & Josh

What are some programs that we might offer this year? Phil mentioned that we could post a document where we might be able to share ideas.

Idea of incorporating CRSA into the onboarding process. We should gather the information that we can and how the talent development fund that is new plays into this.

We would like to create a survey to gather information from faculty and staff about what everyone might like to receive funding for. Amber checked Qualtrics, and it seems easy to manipulate. We will chat more on teams over the issue.

Next Meeting: Phil will look at our schedules and find another time to meet in October.
