Meeting Minutes
September 18, 2023

Committee Goals:
- Updates to organizational page; correction to URLS
- Document a history of past CRSA programming; Assess past CRSA programming and develop new programming;
- History of LRF & GRF funded projects is in MS Teams group for CRSA
- Develop programming to encourage colleagues to apply for LRF and GRF awards.
Background on CRSA:
- Aim of CRSA is to support research & creative projects for Library Faculty & Staff. The Committee evaluates Library Research Fund proposals that support Professional Development (covering conference registration, printing, equipment purchasing, software licensing, etc.) and General Research Fund proposals.
- CRSA is allocated $6,000 annually LRF awards and $13,000 for GRF awards.
- CRSA meets monthly, with more meetings taking place in the Spring term.
- CRSA Programming
- Past programs have included panels that invite colleagues to speak on their research projects, how they came to fruition and issues relating to research programs.
- Last FY, CRSA hosted a three-part workshop series on GRF Q&A with recent recipients, Institutional Review Board (IRB), and on Human Subjects Protocol. The Workshop had good attendance and was well received.
- Potential to have similar programming and workshops related to LRF.
- The Goal of programs is to support faculty and staff in their research endeavors and to increase applications for both funds and see that allocated funds are used each year.
- Suggested programming for FY23
Program on book-length publishing:
- Paul Thomas is interested in a program speaking on the process of book publishing, working with publishers, etc.
- Milton working on book-length translation
- Josh Bolick worked on editing a monograph
Duties of committee chair:
- Schedule meetings, Create agenda, write annual report, coordinate assignments/action items to committee members. Applications are received by chair and shared out to committee. Contact person for submitting approved GRF applications to Library. Send out messages library-wide for call for applications or announcing CRSA programming.
- Chair does not need to be selected today but can be selected before next meeting. Committee has suggested co-chairs with duties shared between new and veteran committee members.
Duties of committee secretary:
- Secretary records and publishes meeting minutes to MS Teams groups and website: https://lfsa.ku.edu/crsa; contributes to CRSA Annual Reports.
- Committee has selected Amber Ovsak to serve as Secretary.
In lieu of committee chair, Jill Becker will set up October meeting (Oct 12, 2023, 11:00-12:00)
