Standing Charges
• Reviews the University of Kansas Libraries Code of Governance, as well as any proposed amendments to ensure that all sections and parts conform to the stated purposes of the LFSA, LSA, and LFA.
• Upon request of any member or committee conveyed through the LFA or LSA Executive Committees, renders interpretive decisions as to the meaning of a particular section or part of the Code.
• Forwards recommendations and decisions to the respective LFA or LSA Executive Committees.
Standing Charges Progress/Accomplishment Summary
• The committee was not called upon for interpretation of the Code’s language during this calendar cycle and did not make any suggestions for changes to the Code.
Special Charges
• The committee was charged to update the Code document to reflect changes to the language (approved by a vote of the LFA membership on 4/24/2023) regarding the membership of two committees.
- Committee on Promotion and Tenure: Restrictions on Membership and Recusal Requirements of Members.
- Sabbatical Leave and Post-Tenure Review Committee: Restrictions on Membership and Recusal Requirements of Members.
Special Charges Progress/Accomplishment Summary
- The updated Code document was due to LFSA Exec by May 1, 2024. It was delivered on March 28, 2024, and the website version of the Code was updated on April 3, 2024. The KU Policy Library page was updated later in April 2024.

Potential Charges for Future Committees/Recommendations
- There is an LSA vote in June 2024 about amending language in the Code to specify that the ex officio members of the University Senate Committee on Libraries must be elected rather than appointed by the LFA and LSA Executive Committees. If the measure passes, then further changes to the Code document will be necessary in 2024-2025.
