Library Faculty and Professionals Assembly
Staff Awards
The Unclassified Professional Excellence Award recognizes outstanding professional performance and contribution to the University of Kansas Libraries. The first year the award was given the UPC and LFPA UP Representative selected the recipient. Each ensuing year the UPC (through the Dean) solicits two UP volunteers for the selection committee, after nominations have been received. The previous year’s winner and the LFPA UP representative are also members of the award committee. The selection committee reviews and discusses information from nomination forms and nominator interviews, and votes anonymously for the recommended recipient. The Award is presented at the Celebration of Excellence held in the Fall and includes a monetary gift of $500.
Previous Award Winners:
Bayliss Harsh, 2010
Carol Jeffries, 2011
Roberta Woodrick, 2012

The Staff Excellence Award was initiated in 2014 to replace the Unclassified Professional Excellence Award and Support Staff Employee of the Year Award and to recognize employees who demonstrate a standard of excellence in work and a significant contribution to the University of Kansas Libraries. The Staff Excellence Award will be given to two recipients annually, in any combination of USS and UPS status. The winners will each receive a $500 cash award as well as his or her name engraved in a plaque on the third floor of Watson Library. The award announcement is made in September and is formally acknowledged at the Libraries’ annual Celebration of Excellence Ceremony.
