LIBRARY STAFF ASSEMBLY (LSA)  

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING NOTES 

December 2, 2019

Opening: 

Meeting commenced at 1:04pm 

Topics: 

• LSA fall general assembly 

o Committee on Salaries and Benefits update on gender-equity salaries: status unknown at  this point due to turnover. 

o Additional post-meeting question regarding gender-distribution in the Libraries among  leadership: LSA should discuss with COA. 

o Inquire with Code regarding status of temporary employees in LSA. 

• Upcoming LFSA meeting 

o SharePoint discussion 

• LFSA meeting (upcoming) topics: 

o SharePoint discussion 

• Staff Development Day (spring general assembly) brainstorm: 

o Last year, staff requested tips on improving resume and CV

▪ University Career Center might be able to assist 

▪ Lars Leon and Sharon Riley might contribute as well, though their role is OD ▪ Generalized vs. Libraries-specific tips is a topic for discussion 

o LSA needs to pick session topics by the end of January 

▪ Do staff always want something practical (a “professional” development day)? o Matt Torres could offer a SharePoint session 

o Information on KU tuition assistance program; augments CV/Resume session o Staff holdings sessions about their individual role with the Libraries. 

o Local History (perhaps the Lawrence History Museum?) 

o As staff are not required to publish, might explore the process with KU Press. o How to use open-source tools 

o Paul will investigate prizes and promotions from local businesses for attending staff (and  check the code to see if it’s permitted) 

o LSA will email each other with other ideas. 

o Chris will create a survey for feedback in Qualtrix 

o Usual date is the Wednesday of spring break (at the Memorial Union). Paul will reach out  to the Union regarding availability.
