Discussion of governance involvement in KU Libraries budget planning
∙ Joined by Shannon Royer and Andi Back for this discussion
∙ Angie will meet with Salary and Benefits this week and Chris with Nominating and Ballot both to discuss possibility and/or need of reinstating Planning and Resources Committee ∙ Shannon asked if S & B accepts the special charge, would PRC need to be reinstated ∙ Discussion on scheduling an additional meeting with the Dean with Chris, Brian, Mary and Angie or LFSA exec as a whole
∙ Shannon shared that the budget meeting happening in March will address budget cuts of 5%, 10% or 15%/ VSIP covers the 5% scenario
∙ Shannon-areas under consideration: Salaries, operations and student payroll ∙ Andi-PRC facilitated internal communication on how budget was spent. PRC was on hiatus prior to 2012 and then again after 2012
∙ Karna-there should be a discussion with the greater body at spring general meeting ∙ Chris-I see PRC involved in the budget cuts that are planned in the future
∙ Chris/Shannon-there are three dates for potential cuts (7/1/21, 1/1/22 & 7/1/22) ∙ Discussion on involvement of OCA
∙ Shannon-PRC could focus on specific topics concerning the budget
∙ Shannon-Discussion with Kevin is needed to see how he sees governance group being involved in budget discussions
∙ Angie-we should present various scenarios to Kevin showing how PRC could be involved in budget process
∙ Chris- next steps
∙ Angie will meet with S & B
∙ Chris meet with N & B
∙ Chairs/vice-chairs meet with Kevin to discuss PRC involvement in budget process o Schedule Spring general assembly (Early to mid-April)
∙ Discussion on reactivating PRC vs. having several people attend budget discussions
