Faculty Retention and Mentoring Discussion
Angie led a discussion related to retention and mentoring. Lea proposed that for SLPTR/LCPT to modify the Code so individuals with a conflict (Mentor/Supervisor) of interest recuse themselves from that one file. There was discussion about reduction in the number of people on SLPTR and LCPT. Representatives from both LCPT and SLPTR felt this would be a challenge, given the workload of each, especially with the potential for recusal. Lars talked about general numbers of or lack of individuals to serve on all governance committees. Discussion on this ensued. There was some discussion concerning mentoring and culture of the organization.
There was very brief discussion about Texas A&M and the future of tenure for their librarians.
