Standing Charges Progress/Accomplishment Summary:
The committee met three (four) times in the fiscal year 2017-2018 and discussed addressing special charges (below) and completing the annual summary report.
The committee was uncertain how to address the standing charge regarding “reports and statistics may be needed to support the library’s budget request for salaries” and will seek clarification at LFSA general meeting.
Special Charges:
Continue to promote the STAR Benefits program, working with the appropriate HR representative to do so. This special charge will build upon the work the committee performed 2016-2017.
Additional Special Charges Assigned to Committee May 2018:
Salaries and Benefits will determine the methodologies, criteria, and other factors to conduct a study of KUL faculty and staff salaries to identify inequities.
Using recommended methodologies, criteria, and other factors, conduct a study of KUL faculty and staff salaries to identify inequities. The committee's final report should contain recommended action items for LFSA executive and the administration to be more transparent and to resolve any found inequities.
Special Charges Progress/Accomplishment Summary:
1) Mike confirmed that STAR program has been added to the orientation program for new staff and will be included in the next HR update. Committee discussed possible ways to promote STARS benefit program, including an informal KULIB-L survey, but did not complete this action. Will get information feedback from the LFSA General Meeting attendees.
Project Closure Report
2) Committee met in October (prior to Open Enrollment) to view a Plan Year 2018 HealthQuest Rewards Program Webinar (live webinar ppt made avail to all faculty/staff, but determined no copy of ppt avail to share). Also followed up with HR representatives with questions. Determined there was no reason to share out information from the webinar, since it was already available to faculty/staff. The information is stored within committee notes.
3) Discussed and analyzed existing (e.g. ARL) and potential new methodologies related to identifying salary inequities in the Libraries. The committee concluded that more specific information and clarity was required in order to identify methodologies and conduct study. Returned charge to LFSA executive committee for further discussion.
Other Activities or Accomplishments:
Sunita attended the Health Fair and found that it was much more organized and informative than in previous years, including interesting ADA assisted technologies.
Investigated whether people could repeat the Naturally Slim program to earn 15 points, if they completed it in prior years. HealthQuest announced that it was possible to repeat.
Potential Charges for Future Committees/Recommendations:
Please review the Committee’s portion of the Library Governance website and the Code. Does it need updating/correcting?:
Examine possibility of change from standing charge to special charge regarding “reports and statistics may be needed to support the library’s budget request for salaries”.
Website and Code: Edit charge regarding membership for this committee (see Red text above) wherever it appears in the code and website.
