  • Reviews the University of Kansas Libraries Code of Governance, as well as any proposed amendments to ensure that all sections and parts conform to the stated purposes of the LFSA, LSA, and LFA
  • Upon request of any member or committee conveyed through the LFA or LSA Executive Committees, renders interpretive decisions as to the meaning of a particular section or part of the Code
  • Forwards recommendations and decisions to the respective LFA or LSA Executive Committees

Standing Charges Progress/Accomplishment Summary:

  • In September 2017, the committee met and made proposed editorial changes to the Code to replace all instances in the Code referring to the Discipline Expectations for Library Faculty at KU with the name of the new document, Promotion and Tenure Procedures for the Faculty of The University of Kansas Libraries. This new document was adopted by faculty vote on 19 December 2016 and approved by the Faculty Senate Committee on Standards and Procedures for Promotion and Tenure in Spring of 2017.  The LFSA Executive Board approved the editorial change on 6 October 2017.
  • In June 2018, the committee was asked to interpret whether LFA/LSA officers could serve on committees at the same time as holding office. We determined that the Code did not prevent the two specific instances in question (serving as members on LFA Exec at the same time as LFSA committees).

Special Charges:

  • Code will review and make recommendations regarding 2016-2017 LFSA executive board’s proposed additions to the secretarial responsibilities in the Code. The committee’s recommendations should address if the change is necessary as well as whether it is an editorial or an official amendment.
  • Ensure that the Code is uploaded to the KU Policy Library, as well as any revisions.

Special Charges Progress/Accomplishment Summary:

  • If altertations to the secretarial responsibilities in the Code are still deemed important, this charge should be carried over and reviewed by the 2018-2019 committee.
  • Code with latest amendment (Oct 2017) was sent to LFSA secretary to be shared with the Executive Director of Administrative Services and uploaded to KU Policy Library on 6 October 2017.
